The Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Plymouth (BID-Plymouth) and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) will host an event to educate the community about the latest advancements in cancer care and research.
Conversations on Cancer: What You Need to Know about the Changing Landscape will include a complimentary dinner buffet and presentations by leading experts in cancer.It will be held on Thursday, May16, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the1620 Winery at Cordage Park in Plymouth. The program will consist of patient-friendly mini-lectures followed by an audience question-and-answer session. Experts from BID-Plymouth Cancer Center and BIDMC Cancer Center will discuss new cancerresearch and treatments.
Presenters and topics will include, from Plymouth, Matthew Koomey, MD, medical oncology; Christian Campos, MD, lung cancer screening; Jonathan Russo, MD, colorectal cancer; Robin Sachs, MD, breast cancer, Joseph Barthold, MD, radiation oncology; Edward (Chip) Malin, MD, breast reconstruction; and from Boston, emcee Mark Garnick, MD, director of community services, prostate cancer; David Avigan, MD, blood cancers; and David McDermott, MD, kidney cancer and melanoma.
“We are fortunate to partner with the cancer specialists at BIDMC to provide access to scientific research, clinical advancements, and additional technology to patients locally and in Boston,” said BID-Plymouth Cancer Center medical director, Matthew Koomey, MD. “The combined specialists from Boston and Plymouth will share current information with you and family members at this educational event.”
